The Editor's Desk

Hi everyone! This is my intro post so I’ll keep it short. I’m Carly, co-editor of the Pub section, and a fourth year anthropology major and classical study minor at UW.  I have lots of hopes for what this section will become. I’d love for it to be a sort of escape for our readers, filled with gossip, fashion, reviews, art, and comics. I welcome any ideas or comments from our readers and look forward to hearing from them! Hope you guys enjoy reading this section as much as I do putting it together!

P.S. My favourite kind of ice cream is mint chocolate chip. Please feel free to bring me some.

Hi!

My name is Stephanie and I am co-editing the The Pub this semester with Carly. I’m an Honours English Lit major and I’m currently researching on beat writers and their texts for my undergraduate thesis.

All I can say is that I’m really excited to be working for the Boar and updating the entertainment section so more people can enjoy this amazing outlet for student life and expression at UW. I’m looking forward to working with Carly and the rest of the gang, so exercise your voices and start sending in submissions :)!

On a more personal note, some of my interests are: READING, writing, indie + alt. rock, art, lomography + instant photography, movies, designer toys, shopping + fashion, stationery, and polar bears :).

Anyways, start sending in your submissions and ideas!

Hi my name is Corey Blenkarn and I am the new Gallery Editor. I am a Fine Arts and Business student here at Waterloo and I LOVE ART!

I really want to punch up the gallery and fill it with your works of arts, whether that is a 4X6 foot canvas or an intense doodle you drew in class today. It doesn’t matter. I welcome everyone to send me your stuff and you might just get featured here at The Boar. I love art and the more you send me the happier I am. :D I am currently redesigning what the gallery will look so as to showcase your work better and more effectively. That way more people can see it!

Besides my love for art, I love being outdoors. I love cycling, whether that jumps, road, XC, downhill, it doesn’t matter, I do it all; Skiing, Canoeing, Camping, etc. Basically stick me in the woods with a pencil and a sketchbook and I’ll be happy.

Yah, that’s about it. Now it’s your turn. Introduce yourself and send me your work! Let’s show that Waterloo is not all about math and CS, but Fine Arts as well.

As I’m sure it’ll say somewhere once this is posted, I’m David Feil. What it doesn’t say is that I’m the editor for the forum section this term. As usual, I’m looking forward to reading some well thought out opinions (as opposed to rants. Get enough of those at home) and getting them up ASAP. This time around we’re also going to be starting up some blogging about pretty much anything. So if you’ve got something you want to keep everyone up to date on e-mail either me or our editor at forum@theboar.ca and editor@theboar.ca respectively. Chow.

Hullo!

I’m Mark, I am currently in Systems Design Engineering, but I will soon be in the Faculty of Science! I will be Photo Editor this term, because I love the art of photography. I personally shoot primarily in 35mm film with a Pentax MV SLR, equipped with 50mm lens or my 70-210mm Vivitar zoom. I have also gained much familiarity with the Nikon D40 and D80 cameras in use by Imprint. (I was features editor over the Winter 2009 term)

I play the guitar and I like good music.

This term, I want The Boar to be chock-full of photos. I want there to be beautifully framed masterpieces, and awesomely campy shoot-from-the-hip snaps. Stories can be enhanced. Pages can be beautified. Moods can be created, alleviated, changed. I want to see what people have to offer.
